The Good Food Award finalists are selected based on specific sustainability standards followed by a blind taste test by a panel of judges. To be eligible, cider entries must be made in the USA and produced with ingredients that promote resource conservation and minimize synthetic inputs. Ciders must also be made with locally-grown fruit and ingredients that are made with a respect to seasonality as a top priority; be free of artificial ingredients; not use fruit juice concentrates as a primary source of fermentable sugar; and other sustainability standards.
The Good Food Awards are hosted by the Good Food Foundation, an organization that exists to celebrate, connect, and empower producers who strive to provide tasty, authentic, sustainable, and responsible food and beverage products.
Madrone Cellars was established in 2017 by husband-wife duo, Shaun and Amy Salamida. Its wines and ciders are made with minimal intervention, with a goal of revealing the fruit, terroir, and story behind the grapes. Their products can be found in its Friday Harbor tasting room, or ordered online by visiting .
