SEATTLE ... – This afternoon industry experts and media convened at Seattle’s Capitol Cider to judge 145 ciders from 38 cideries throughout the Pacific Northwest, including Washington, Oregon, Montana and British Columbia, at the second annual Pacific Northwest Cider Awards (PNWCA).
...
Divided into 14 distinct categories, gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded for a total of 42 winning ciders, as well as a “Best in Show” medal, chosen from a second tasting made up of the gold medal recipients from each category.
“We’re thrilled with the support we’ve seen from cidermakers and cider lovers at this second annual awards program and festival,” said Sherrye Wyatt, executive director of the Northwest Cider Association. “The industry is growing so fast, so it’s exciting to see both established and new cideries doing great things. It’s also a really fun way to keep tabs on what regional cidermakers are up to. For example, this year we had 18 fruit cider and 19 hopped ciders entered, both of which are becoming big styles here in the Pacific Northwest.”
