Madrone Cellars Receives Top Honors in Industry Awards

Friday Harbor, Washington – April 8, 2021 – Madrone Cellars, a boutique winery and cidery based on San Juan Island in Washington, has received the Good Food Foundation’s 2021 “Good Food Award” for its barrel-aged currant cider. It has also received “Gold” recognition in Cidercraft Magazine’s 2020 awards for its perry selection.

“We are honored to receive such prestigious awards from the Good Food Foundation and Cidercraft Magazine,” said Shaun Salamida, winemaker and cidermaker for Madrone Cellars. “Our goal is to provide delicious wines and ciders that focus on fresh, local, and natural ingredients representative of our location here on San Juan Island, and we are thrilled that our approach is receiving such positive recognition.”

Cidercraft Magazine’s 2021 “Cidercraft Awards” are determined based on a blind taste test by a panel comprised of leading cider palates, judges, and professionals.

Madrone Cellars was established in 2017 by husband-wife duo, Shaun and Amy Salamida. Its wines and ciders are made with minimal intervention, with a goal of revealing the fruit, terroir, and story behind the grapes.
